Cookie’s Cocktail Lounge
Cookie's Cocktail Lounge is located at 1024 W 79th Street. It's the premier bar or lounge for an eclectic group of people, a wide variety of interactions, and great drinks. Cookie's only allows entry by being buzzed in which is a rarity for Chicago bars. The owner, Cookie, says that this is to keep the riff raff out of the lounge which is perfect for ensuring a great ambiance.
Cookie's Cocktail Lounge sets a strict dress code. Don't think you're going to enter in athletic clothes, white t-shirts, or headgear. You know the type of person we're referring to. If you're dressed respectably and act responsibly you'll be welcomed with open arms. We mean that literally. You'll be hugged hello by strangers as if you've known them for years.
That might be the fact that we're white and the bar is predominantly African American but that doesn't matter to us! Welcoming people are welcoming people. It's a bit of an older crowd which helps keep the place fun and lively. The drinks are strong and incredibly affordable. You have to purchase a minimum of $20 in order to open a credit card tab and it's almost impossible to even do that without getting drunk!
